Hello…it’s me. My name is Stephanie Smith and I am currently a junior at The Ohio State University majoring in fashion and retail merchandising with a business minor.
Some would be shocked that I ended up in the fashion industry considering the fact that I wore the same outfit 43 days in a row in kindergarten. In my defense, a leopard-print coat and a neon color-block windbreaker were the perfect complements to my floral leggings and the California weather. While the floral patterns are here to stay, I’ve since matured in my style. Between my move from California to Ohio, I have learned to adapt my style to the blistering polar vortex that is Columbus. Since moving to the Midwest, I have simultaneously expanded my wardrobe and my vocabulary (who knew “parka” was a word?).
One of my favorite fashion inspirations is sitting in a campus coffee shop and seeing how everyone else styles their pieces. I think it’s fascinating how we can all own the same staple items, but an outfit is completely personalized by just a few accessories. When I’m not sitting in a coffee shop or busy lacing up my L.L.Bean boots, you can find me in The ‘Shoe or cuddled up on the couch in the Chi Omega house. No more long walks on the beach or surfing to school for this California native.
Recently, I have found a new obsession with heels and booties and can’t seem to get enough of them. These black ankle boots from Madewell are my go-to shoes for the colder seasons. The chunky heel may be intimidating, but trust me, they are so easy to walk in! I love pairing these boots with my favorite pair of black jeans and a casual top. Throw on a leather jacket and some jewelry and you have the perfect, everyday outfit.
I’m looking forward to a great semester and I am so excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista!
