STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Day to Night, Black and White

This week I have decided to write about a very controversial topic in the art world: black and white. Are they colors? Are they the absence of color? After all the art classes I have taken throughout my life, I have to admit that I am still not sure. You can mix the primary colors together and get black, but how come when there is no light in a room, there is blackness? All I know is that even though these two shades may not qualify as colors to everyone, they are a big part of every Fashionista/o’s life.

The combination of black and white in an outfit creates a chic day to night look that may be basic, but is never boring. Also, these two shades will never go out of style. You’ll never regret purchasing a little black dress or a white T-shirt because they will always be relevant and useful in the fashion world. Lately, I have been seeing mannequins and models dressed in only black and white and I am really digging the trend. When I walked into Zara today, their mannequins had on all black clothing with white sneakers. When it comes to celebrity style, Kylie Jenner is always sporting a strictly black and white outfit. The fun thing about these two colors is that they come in many different prints and fabrics. You could wear a black leather jacket with a white cotton shirt and a black corduroy skirt. Your look would have minimal color, but so much texture!

This Fashionista is a perfect example of the classic combination of only black and white. She is wearing a white open-back cowl-neck sweater with a black lace bralette peeking out the back of it. The top has a textured fabric, which adds some more detail to her look. She paired her top with a pair of torn, black jeans and chunky, black leather heels. She even has her nails painted black. She kept her accessories simple with a few silver rings.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Sometimes when it comes to color, accessories and many other things in life, less is more. Keeping it simple can make a bolder statement than you may think.”
