I’m Rebecca Fechino, and I’m a veteran Style Guru and a senior at the University of Tennessee. Rocky Top has been my home for the past four years, and since then I’ve noticed the style of the university change. You don’t see many cool styles during the school day, because many people prefer comfort over chic, but the nightlife is when the fashion really comes to life. I love people-watching and gaining inspiration from these nights.
Like I always say, my style is never stagnant; it is always evolving and being refined. I love trying new things and being inspired to wear and be what I want. I don’t accessorize well within my realm of style, so normally I try to let my clothes and presence speak for themselves.
Right now in my life, I rarely wear pants. I love looking into my closet and creating an outfit that I’ve never worn before with the clothes that I already own. You can always tell the mood I’m in by the clothes I wear. Normally, you can catch me with a skater skirt, a button-down and my Dr. Martens. In the winter, I wear a lot of cropped sweaters and button-downs, or really large sweaters and tights. Comfort is key in the game of winter, and being as warm as possible is what I strive for, especially on Rocky Top, where the Smoky Mountains are located.
In the game of fashion, never lose yourself. Dress the way you perceive yourself, and if you don’t like it, don’t wear it. Let strong women empower you and take risks. Good style doesn’t come overnight. It takes trial and error, and finding who you are and what you like.
