Hi Everyone! My name is Michaela Barsamian and I’m a sophomore at the University of Southern California, pursuing a major in business administration and a minor in consumer behavior. I’m originally from Boston, Massachusetts but am having the time of my life out here in California, where the weather is hot and the fashion is even hotter.
I became a Style Guru because I love observing the vast range of trendy outfits that surround me every day on campus, and I can’t wait to find out the stories behind them. On an average day, you can catch me roaming the streets of L.A. in my adidas sneakers, ripped jeans and Starbuck’s coffee in hand; I am currently very into the casually chic outfits that are comfy, don’t take too long to put together, but result in a perfectly mod look. That being said, don’t be surprised when my suede skirts, over-the-knee boots and chunky jewelry make an appearance when the night comes around!
My favorite thing about fashion is the way it makes me feel. When I’m exhausted, stressed out or just in a bad mood, one simple outfit can make all the difference; I gain an immediate sense of confidence when I look in the mirror and see a polished, fun outfit staring back at me. It puts a smile on my face, rejuvenates my day and makes me feel like I can conquer the world. So yes, I am that girl who wears a skirt and leather jacket to take her finals. To me, fashion isn’t just a way to express myself to the world around me, but it’s a way that I express myself to myself—who will I be that day? The preppy schoolgirl in her plaid skirt? The seemingly careless girl in her beanie and Converse? Only my outfit will tell.
