Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Morgan and I’m in my third year at the University of Virginia. This is my third semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I’ve loved every minute of it! A little more about me: I’m a media studies and women, gender and sexuality studies double major, I’m currently learning Korean (though I’ve learned multiple other languages in the past) and I hope to have a career in fashion PR when I graduate. I also currently have a YouTube channel and fashion blog that I run alongside writing for CollegeFashionista.
In explaining my style, I’ve found the easiest way to describe it is ultra-minimalistic. I usually shop for pieces I can wear in a number of different ways or that standout so much I have to wear them with other plain pieces. A lot of my style, because I speak Korean and will be living in Korea next fall, is inspired by Korean street style and designers. I find that Korean street style is dominated currently by oversized pieces, normcore (hardcore normal style) and Parisian elements. The outfit I’m wearing in this bio represents that; I’m wearing some light overalls, an oversized black sweater, a beret and some standard adidas. All of these have been on trend in Korea and the beret and adidas have spread quickly to American street style as well.
I love working with CollegeFashionista because I love spreading the message that style is what you make of it. It doesn’t matter if you wear all florals, all-black or always wear your favorite flatforms, style is individual and can be fun to play around with! I hope to be able to show all you Fashionistas/os some more great styles from my campus at the University of Virginia throughout this semester. Stay tuned for more fashion content!
