Hello Fashionistas/os! I am Susana Carolina Galindo Galvez and if my lengthy name doesn’t give it away, yes, I am Latina. I was born in Mexico City to a Mexican mother and a Colombian father. I can honestly say that one of the best parts of my life has been getting the opportunity to be involved in two such rich cultures and learn to love them equally.
I am the only girl in the family, so my mom took it upon herself to use me as her dress-up doll for my entire childhood. She did my hair differently every single day. I was probably the best-dressed kid in all my classes (yes, I am shamelessly bragging). Naturally I wanted to dress up my dolls too, but the clothes my Barbies came with just weren’t making the cut. I took it upon myself to take my mom’s old shirts and cut them into tiny pants, skirts, dresses and shirts for my Barbies. How did I manage to sew them? Who knows, but I did. I probably spent more time making them clothes than actually playing with them. Needless to say, fashion has always been a big part of my life.
Although I, like most of us, have made some very questionable style choices, I have always managed to wear what I wore with pride. As for right now, my style varies daily. Most of the time, though, I like to think that less is more and keep it simple. I usually have accent pieces (such as the watch or jacket in the picture) that manage to keep a simple outfit trendy. I also often have my edgier days when I just want to throw on some dark lipstick and a leather jacket.
I’m currently a senior at Georgia State University. Since GSU is in the heart of Atlanta, the fashion diversity seen on campus is immense and I am genuinely excited to get to share that with you all!
