After browsing pictures from the Chloè pre-fall 2015 collection, I fell in love with the muted color palette and the oversized silhouettes. The collection has always been a favorite of mine, so I wanted to make an outfit based on the collection but make it adaptable for an Indiana University student in the winter. I found this fringed poncho at American Eagle Outfitters on Black Friday, and obviously since it was on sale that meant I had to get it.
I decided to style this poncho with other neutral pieces. In the colder months, I tend to be drawn to more neutral colors. First, under the poncho I have a H&M long sleeve shirt. This shirt is so extremely comfortable. It is made of a thin cotton, so I paired a simple Forever 21 camisole underneath it to counteract the sheerness of the long sleeve shirt.
With this poncho and top combination, I have two layered necklaces. I love being able to layer jewelry, especially with simple and neutral looks like this one. I am a firm believer in the fact that an accessory can change an entire outfit. I love how the shorter chain allows it to be layered with longer necklaces such as this Bloomington map necklace that was given to me by my older brother. On my wrist, I have my silver Michael Kors watch that is sure to add sparkle to any outfit.
For pants and boots, I am wearing black leggings and tall glossy Hunter Boots. I love these rain boots for the winter because they have traction on the bottom of the boot to help trudge through ice and sludge without slipping and falling. They are also very low maintenance shoes. If there is salt residue on the shoe, all you have to do is rub a wet paper towel over it and you’re good to go and your rain boots will look like new!
