Winter can be weird sometimes, especially in the college town of Bloomington, Indiana. One second, the temperatures are below freezing and there’s snow on the ground; the next, the highs are in the upper-50s and the sun is shining. So, what does this mean? As a college student at IU, you must be prepared to conquer whatever the weather brings.
This Fashionista conquered just that in this casual, yet stylish, ensemble for class. When walking from place to place, with no end in sight, you want to make sure you’re comfortable. However, comfortable doesn’t mean you can’t look fashionable. She chose to wear a pair animal print rain boots, faux leather leggings and an oversized sweater. She topped off the look with a beanie and modest accessories.
Although leggings and sweaters have become a staple in almost every college woman’s closet, there are many ways to dress it up. Regular leggings are great, but choosing to wear faux leather leggings adds more texture to the outfit. This oversized burgundy sweater from TOBI pairs perfectly; it’s big and cozy to brace against the winter temperatures, but also tasteful in its cut and quality.
I have to say, I love these boots. People are constantly saying animal prints are out, but they’ve never been more in when worn in the right way. These kate spade cheetah print rain booties are the perfect addition to any simple outfit. Whether worn with a pair of jeans, a dress and stockings or these leggings, this Fashionista did right by me.
Accessories truly have the ability to make or break an outfit. This Fashionista did a great job with staying simple and classy, and not letting accessories suffocate the simplicity. She’s wearing a neutral kate spade watch on her left wrist, in addition to an embossed silver bracelet and a ring. Her hat is fitting with the winter weather, keeping her warm, toasty and chic.
One Simple Change: I love this outfit, but sometimes you want to take something from casual to grabbing dinner or drinks with friends. To go from day to night, swap the boots for a pair of heeled Chelsea boots, ditch the hat and maybe add a long necklace to break up the sweater.
