Boots covered in snow and spring semester in clear sight, that’s where this Style Guru is at right now. And that Style Guru is me, Maggie! Welcome back to my third semester with the lovely and fashionable CollegeFashionista family. This semester has a lot to offer and I’m ready to see where it takes me. I’ve also got some big projects ahead of me so I hope you are ready to see what is in store for this crazy spring semester. One other thing to add before we go any further: this semester is one of my last here at Kent State University because, well, I’m off to the Big Apple! Yes, that’s right, I’m studying away in New York next fall and I’m literally bursting at the seams. But as of right now, I need to scope out the best of the best fashion that Kent has to offer before we part ways. So cheers to this semester and let’s make the best of it!
After my eight and a half hour car ride back to Ohio, I’m ready for whatever comes my way. About a year ago I was just arriving in Kent at this time and was this terrified transfer student who didn’t know a single soul. Thinking about that now and seeing how far I have gotten since then gives me chills. I’m so thankful for all the support and endless amount of knowledge I have gained from that experience. I am more confident with myself now after that journey and I’m still continuing to grow in such a beautiful environment. Change is hard but that’s what I needed and now I can see that this is exactly where I need to be.
As the spring semester is coming in at full speed, that means winter break is a thing in the past (I wish winter was, too). However, that means it’s back to walking to classes in the coldest days and living off of those extra espresso shots. I don’t know about you, but I’m not all about the cold and not feeling my hands anymore type of thing. Yet, I do love the beauty that the snow does bring. So how do I stay comfy and cozy yet chic and fab in the winter may you ask? It’s all about the layers. Layers are my best friend and has stuck by me for many past winters. I love to wear my favorite graphic T-shirt under a warm sweater while throwing one of many of my winter coats on. And don’t forget that infamous blanket scarf to hide your freezing nose in. Besides just finding the coziest sweater in your closet everyday, try a turtleneck. Pair it with some high-wasted jeans for a more put together look or pair it with some light wash denim to feel a softer vibe. Whatever it is, it’ll make your fashion wardrobe that much better. And when it comes to the winter ways, you cant forget some comfortable boots to get you to class.
