From stumbling in tulle Cinderella costumes on the playground circa 2000 to walking in leather loafers to class, I have always embraced the theory that the more fashionable you feel, the better you perform.
That being said, I hope your fall semesters have been as fashionable as they have been successful. Whether in academics or career settings, when you wear something that makes you feel sensational, you can’t help but feel a little bit better about yourself. Each semester, I love seeing how Style Gurus continue reform the “lazy dressing” stereotype of college students by embracing fashion on their campuses.
In-between semesters last winter, I learned more about fashion as an intern at NYLON magazine. I loved learning more about the process for creating looks for editorials and fashion spreads. Despite my attempts to emulate NYC native Carrie Bradshaw, I could not help but give away my touristy side by “Snapping” photos of twinkling Christmas displays and Central Park. But regardless of my newness to the area, I learned so much about new designers and the responsibilities that bring a magazine to life.
This spring, I can’t wait to be inspired by my favorite designer collections as they bloom onto the glossy pages of fashion magazines. One of my favorite things about CollegeFashionista is the opportunity to see how other college students across the country interpret runway trends that inspire them. For my fourth STYLE GURU BIO, I was influenced by the sleek ensembles I saw during the winter and wore a ribbed black dress with lace-up ballet flats. While there are countless ways to style an LBD, I always add a few feminine accessories, this time, with a gold bangle and pink clutch.
I hope all of you have a fun, successful spring. Whether scouting out new trends on runways or wearing vintage from a local boutique, let’s make this semester the most stylish one yet!
