The culottes’ trend is still growing strong going into 2016. This 2015 trend did not really appeal to me at first. Not that I didn’t think culottes didn’t look phenomenal on others. I just couldn’t fathom my short-self wearing culottes!
A brief background on culottes date back to the 1500s during the era of King Henry III of France and were later adapted by the active feminst women in the Victorian era.
I was inspired by Victoria Beckham’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear runway show. Where it featured a bold mustard yellow-pleated culottes that was paired with black leather ankle boots. My take on this culottes look from Victoria Beckham was; I played with a bold print and paired it with platform heels to create a more fun and refreshed look.
It is always exciting to change up from the usually skirt to flowing, wide-legged culottes. Culottes can be a little tricky to style. They may fall in ways that can cut your legs and make you appear shorter. A monochromatic approach can help create a long, lean silhouette.
If you think your ready to tackle this culottes trend, make sure to get a pair of flowing, wide-legged culottes that should end somewhere below the knew and above the ankle. Don’t be afraid to play with different prints like I did here. There are different styles to suit everyone’s tastes from super-dressy to fun prints. Not only are they a fun new alternative to your skinny jeans, they are super comfortable and roomy. Paired with fun platforms seals this look.
