Spring officially begins in Ireland on the first of February, but I’m still so not ready to let go of fall/winter’s velvet trend! Anyone who has seen Emilio Pucci’s autumn/winter 2015-2016 ready-to-wear would understand why. The house took velvet to the modern age by using velvet material to create its blazers and flare trousers, and decorating the garments with gold embellishments and zodiac symbols. The result is a collection that embodied what it means to be glamourous in 2015 and 2016.
If you have been reading my posts for a while, you’d know that I love anything that makes dressing up in the mornings as pleasant and as easy as possible. Without a doubt, the velvet trend ticks this box big-time. Because the fabric’s appearance is similar to that of silk, it immediately brings a sense of luxury and glamour to an otherwise basic outfit. My outfit, for example, is made up only of a basic shirt, a pair of black pants, and my favorite black booties. But the velvet texture in the shirt elevates the outfit and makes it a lot more interesting! However, as the Emilio Pucci collection shows, you can take the fabric to an even higher level by combining with graphic clothes and fur coats. With velvet, you can make no mistake!
Get My Look: 1. A velvet shirt. 2. A pair of black pants. 3. Shoes of your choice, preferably in black (pants and shoes in the same colour helps elongate the legs). 4. Your trademark accessories!
