We have all seen Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and even Kevin Jonas take the world by storm, but nothing prepared the northeast for winter storm Jonas. From slushy roads to impossibly made travel, an outfit that’s both blizzard proof and fashionable becomes as rare as magic. Winter wear can be bulky, ill fitting, and simply unflattering. It takes years of searching for the perfect coat, including style and fit, to truly make a winter statement. For us college girls with limited time and resources, my holy grail of mottos is “when in doubt, black it out!” It is a simple known fact that one cannot go wrong with an all black outfit regardless of the season, event, or time of day.
In the summers we have our fun and flowy black tanks and denim shorts, fall calls for a cozy black sweater paired with your favorite skinny jeans, which then brings us to winter, where anything that’ll keep you warm works! When deciding on my winter outfits, I always begin with shoes because let’s face it, nothing is worse than cold feet. The ideal shoe overwhelmingly spotted across campus, as students trotted through the snow were rain boots. Yes, they keep your feet nice and dry, but can be a little hard to make trendy at times. Paired with the perfect bottom this problem can be easily solved! Our Fashionista is wearing a black leather mini skirt, with black tights, saying “yes I’m warm, but yes I am also killing it in leather.” It allows for the statement piece to be cool and sleek rather than drowning out with the rain boots.
To keep the sleek momentum going, nothing reads ‘levelheaded’ better than a turtleneck. Our Fashionista sports a black beanie to keep her head snug, paired with signature sunglasses making her blackout pop. School bags are always fun to play with; snag yourself one that comfortably fits your books as well as wowing the crowd. The grand finale to wrap up your winter look is your coat, or in this case your vest! As stated in our very own CollegeFasionista article “Find Your Winter Coat Spirit Animal,” “a shearling motto vest makes an effortless match!”
One Simple Change: Just finished your day agenda and want to grab a few cocktails with friends? Here’s your day to night winter look made simple! Chuck the rain boots and slip into a pair of booties, (black, of course). Your leather skirt and high turtleneck will keep you in tact for the nightlife while the booties shed away the daylight.
