Erin Fetherston’s fall/winter 2016-2017 collection is a combination of classic and chic pieces. She uses many neutral tones in addition to burgundy, blue and vermilion pops of color throughout the show. While looking through her collection, the use of the velvet burgundy mini skirt stood out to me most and inspired my outfit.
I pulled inspiration from this show, and applied it to my outfit by choosing a plain white short sleeve T-shirt and burgundy imitation suede A-line skirt. In addition, the long black cardigan and black booties are essential pieces in my wardrobe that I added to make the outfit a little more of my own style.
This outfit was easily translated from a runway show to my own outfit because most of the pieces I chose are classic, staple items in my closet. My goal for this outfit was to stick to the classic pieces but I still wanted to make it a little unique. To add a pop of color to this otherwise neutral outfit, I chose the burgundy suede skirt, very similar to a skirt in the collection. I also added the silver and black pendent to bring out the silver in the buttons on the skirt.
The simple white T-shirt is a staple item in any closet, but putting it together with the skirt turns a basic item into a whole different outfit. The items in this outfit can easily be dressed up or down for any occasion.
