I don’t know about you, but heading back to school after a relaxing spring break was less than thrilling. Driving down to the Valley, the temperature was dropping as well as many students’ motivation to start Monday’s classes in style. Hopping over puddles and avoiding my lust for a fourth cup of coffee, I glanced up and saw this Fashionista dominating the scene. Amidst an array of sweatpants and UGG boots, she refused to let the lack of sunshine damper her outfit choice. Sophisticated, practical and with a touch of her personality, the Monday blues were well forgotten.
Because of Happy Valley’s fluctuating temperatures, this outfit is transferable for all times in the day. Pairing a simple black camisole with a deep plum-like cardigan is the perfect mediator between the cold inside the classroom and muggy humidity outside. With accessories, this Fashionista added a touch of gold into the mix. Her metallic belt loop matched all the way down to the gold zipper on her black boots. Because cheetah print has always been one of my favorite patterns, I couldn’t help but notice that added detail on her belt. Subtle, but at the same time establishing structure, the belt serves as a nice break from this mostly black ensemble. Fancy makeup wasn’t needed because a matching ring and earring combo added enough sparkle.
One Simple Change: To transfer this into a date night look, any Fashionista could slip on a patterned mini skirt or structured body con. Switching out pants for a skirt definitely adds a more playful feel to any look.
