Suede is that super luscious napped leather that you’ll unsurprisingly find to be one of this year’s hottest trends. This sultry material is so enticing to the eyes; you’ve probably seen all of your favorite celebs rock a suede jacket or sexy suede thigh-highs during one of their most recent outings since they obviously always know what’s up when it comes to keeping up with the most recent trends—yes Gigi, I’m talking about you.
During this month’s fall/winter Fashion Week in Paris, Olivier Rousteing, creative director of French fashion house Balmain, showcased a ready-to-wear collection paying homage to two of this season’s hottest colors, rose quartz and serenity. The collection also featured suede ensembles that the industries most popular models donned down the high-fashion runway. Rousteing’s collection included everything from skirts to thigh-highs to dresses and jackets all made from the lush suede material that we all can’t seem to get enough of.
Inspired by Balmain’s most recent collection, my look features a black suede jacket that I literally stole out of my mom’s closet—you know something is on-trend when your mom owns a suede jacket and you don’t. I paired it over a black crop top and light-wash, distressed boyfriend jeans—a jean that has remained a consistent trend for the last several years. I paired this get up with a double-zipper cross-body bag, thick platform suede Velcro sneakers and sheer metallic socks to edge my look out further. I also chose to accessorize with jewelry that would serve as the more feminine aspect to my outfit. Around my wrists are a thin gold-chained hamsa bracelet, a midway ring and a gold and cobalt bangle making for the perfect balance between a soft and edgy look.
