As we transition into spring and warmer weather, we also move into warmer tones and patterns. This coming spring features an array of styles and colors, but my focus for the beginning of this new season absolutely had to be the pale, pastel hues from Aouadi’s spring 2016 couture collection. The light pinks, pale purples and saturated beiges seen across the whole collection can be seen both on and off the runway. Boutiques and chain stores alike feature the understated hues in garments from bodysuits to ballet flats to minimalistic jewelry and everything in between.
In my outfit inspired by this particular Aouadi collection, I started off with a simple suede shift dress in a pale rose color. The dress correlates with the boxy, loose shapes seen in the couture collection. The laser cut-outs on the sleeves and hem are reminiscent of the collection’s sharp angles and cuts. I accessorized with gold rings that have pale pink and coral gems and a gold necklace, which tie the look together much like Aouadi’s own golden accents seen here and there throughout the collection. I pulled the look together with a pair of chunky brown heels. The shoes give a sort of contrast to the warm tones of the rest of the outfit, as well as give a more organic feel to an otherwise sharp and minimalistic look.
Although the couture collection I used as my inspiration for this month’s look features many sharp lines and angles that are not exactly “doable” for college students in spring, I think that the color schemes and overall theme of the collection is something we will see a lot of this coming spring. Something as simple as a blush bodysuit or a light purple crop top paired with some dark wash jeans or high waisted shorts and a few gold accents will definitely take any Fashionista’s spring 2016 look to the next level.
