Spring is officially here, and it feels great. Finally, we can pack away our bulky sweaters and exchange them for breezy spring fabrics. The transition from winter to spring can be an exhilarating time. Spring brings on a whole new plethora of clothing options. With a new season, comes an opportunity to transform yourself. Last year’s spring self is gone and this year’s is ready to take some chances. This Fashionista chose to dive into spring headfirst and borrowed from the boys. She paired a light linen top with a pair of men’s trousers.
Menswear for ladies is becoming more popular. It gives us women a chance to explore a whole new realm of clothing options. It can be a liberating experience. It feels so wrong, but oh so right. There’s just something so relaxed about men’s clothing that can’t be found in women’s clothing. This Fashionista kept her menswear feminine by pairing it with a thin, simple top. It’s important when trying out menswear to not go too heavy in either direction (girly or masculine). She also added wedges and delicate jewelry to help feminize it. Had she paired it with heavy and bold jewelry, the look would not have been as sleek and successful.
In my opinion, this menswear trend is a result of strong feminist women. We’re closing the gap between the genders and that includes clothing too. Fashion is in a phase of desexualizing people and making clothing that is acceptable for both genders. I, for one, have always been a fan of borrowing from the boys and I plan to keep doing it! It’s such an easy way to pull off that cool-girl vibe without having to try too hard.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I enjoy mixing a casual item of clothing, such as this pair of men’s pants, with feminine touches, like the wedges and linen top. It allows me to be comfortable, but still feel confident and pretty!”
