Denim has always been a staple in fashion from jeans to jackets. Different ways of wearing denim come in and out of style all the time. At the moment, I truly love the oversized denim jacket. Its oversized nature offers a fresh twist on the classic denim jacket. The oversized denim jacket is also known as the boyfriend jacket because it is meant to look like you are wearing your boyfriend’s jacket. Celebrities also are not naïve to this growing trend as Cara Delevingne, Behati Prinsloo and Kendall Jenner are often seen rocking the oversized denim jackets. A great thing about this fashion staple is that it can be worn with virtually anything. Match an oversized denim jacket with a floral dress and some black heels for a more feminine look or add some black jeans for a more rugged and edgy look.
I was very impressed and inspired by this Fashionista’s take on the oversized denim jacket. She is not shy to fashion as she works with clothes everyday at Urban Outfitters in Lexington, Kentucky. In these pictures, the Fashionista got her vintage Levi Brand Jeans jacket from a thrift store in Lexington called Pop’s Resale. She has a keen eye for vintage pieces as she wears her finds regularly. Accompanying her oversized denim jacket is a white V-neck T-shirt and Topshop blacked ripped jeans. I love how effortlessly put together her outfit looks. For added details she is wearing two dainty necklaces including a black velvet choker and a timeless gold chain. For an outfit like this necklaces are a must because without them the outfit can lack a certain element. This Fashionista is also wearing one of the year’s most popular shoes. I am of course talking about adidas Stan Smith shoes They have been seen on absolutely everyone this year and make the perfect addition to this already perfect outfit. Her hair pulled back in a sleek ponytail only shows off the different pieces in her outfit more.
This casual look can be worn to class or even just getting lunch in downtown Lexington. Also, it is a good transition outfit from winter to spring. This Fashionista’s outfit is more of a daytime look but adding a pair of black ankle-strapped heels can quickly take this outfit from day to night. Denim will always be apart of fashion whether it is boyfriend jeans, a denim blouse, the classic denim jacket and now the new oversized denim jacket. The style in which we wear denim goes in and out but having the staple pieces at hand will always keep you prepared.
