I love keeping up with runway trends. They always have such creative and unique pieces that not many people have. One of the aspects that occasionally turn me away from recreating these runway looks is the fact that they are sometimes unrealistic to wear anywhere besides the catwalk. When I saw Alexandre Vauthier’s spring 2016 collection, I instantly fell in love with it. The collection was trendy enough to be a runway favorite, but also included pieces that I could realistically wear to various everyday events.
One of the trends I am loving lately, that was also featured in Vauthier’s collection, is knee-high and thigh-high boots. I think they are very flattering on many body types and really elongate your legs. When recreating this look, my main goal was, to the best of my ability, to use items that many people already had in their closets; I did not want to go out and buy anything to create this look. As many of the looks in this collection featured all-black outfits, it was especially easy for me to recreate the styles featured on the runway.
I paired a black turtleneck with a simple black skirt to create the effect of a turtleneck dress. Then I added a black leather jacket and my favorite black knee-high boots. I thought the outfit was dressy enough for a night on the town and very slimming, as well. Although I did not have a pair in my wardrobe, the clear aviator glasses a lot of the models were wearing on the runway made me consider making a new purchase.
