With spring officially in full bloom, the saying “out with the old, in with the new” has been somewhat of a theme for my closet these days. I have begun to put away my favorite oversized sweaters and found my spring wardrobe patiently waiting to be taken off the shelf.
I was inspired this season by the Alexander McQueen spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The feminine details of the pieces with the ruffles, lace and floral print mixed with an edgier twist is something I try to incorporate in my own personal style. I was especially motivated by look 27: a lavender maxi dress with a low neckline and floral print. Being a jeans and T-shirt kind of gal, adding dresses to my closet this season is a necessity.
To channel my inner Alexander McQueen, I chose a faded green, floral Free People mini dress. This swingy silhouette is perfect for spring, and it has pockets! What more could you ask for? What I love most about this dress is the detail of the keyhole cutout, which makes it extra flirty.
To incorporate that edgier look, I added a vintage belt. It also gives the dress more shape. To add to my outfit, I wore brown, suede, open-toed booties, one of this season’s hottest trends. I also accessorized with chunky boho bracelets and layered necklaces. To finish off my look, I added a pink lip and my all-time favorite accessory, a tan wool hat.
Although this mini dress may look like a one-stop outfit on its own, because of the short length it can be worn with leggings, jeans or tights!
