You have seen it before, this trend that surrounds you every day. When your best friend buys a new pair of Victoria’s Secret yoga pants, the trend is there. Or when you see an advertisement for adidas by Kanye West sneakers on sale, the trend is there as well. This trend has taken America by storm the last few seasons, and it doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon. Why would it? This trend is comfortable yet fashionable, the two biggest aspects we Americans strive for every day. This trend that I speak of has a name, and it goes by “athleisure.”
The athleisure trend is ideal because it works around our busy lives. We can feel comfortable and still run the world. This Fashionisto knows all about what it means to sport this hot trend. Let’s begin with the part of our bodies that probably endures the most strain, our feet. This Fashionisto chose adidas Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto trainers to protect his feet. Pairing his sneakers with Nike running pants, a John Elliott hoodie and a New Era Florida State Seminoles beanie sums up the athleisure trend nicely. The biggest aspect of this trend that I love is the freedom. It’s a common sighting to see sneakers paired with dress pants for men and culottes for ladies. This Fashionisto chose to pair his athletic attire with a sophisticated top piece. The New Look, camel colored topcoat and tortoise shell Ray-Ban shades add a splash of mature attire to show that this Fashionisto means business.
I hope that this trend never goes out of style because I love the freedom it provides. If you want to wear sneakers with a skirt while you explore a new city, you can do that. What if you simply want to look cute while breaking a sweat at the gym? You can do that, too! The possibilities are endless with athleisure clothing.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Simply because you just hit the gym doesn’t mean you can’t look sharp. I prefer clean lines, sleek silhouettes, slim fits and simple colors, like all-black, to transition from gym to daily errands comfortably and stylishly.”
