STYLE GURU STYLE: Round Sunnies In Spring

Sunglasses are an easy way to effortlessly make a big statement. In my professional Style Guru opinion, they are a severely underrated accessory, and they can be the focus of an otherwise minimalistic outfit. I have three pairs of fun, funky sunglasses, so I guess you could say that they are kind of my thing, a signature, something people know me for. Naturally, I was inspired by the Burberry fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, which included a ton of colorful, textured pieces, along with round sunglasses. Of course, the clothing was gorgeous in and of itself, but the sunglasses really added a unique touch. The collection entitled Patchwork, Patterns and Prints was just that: patchwork, different prints and fun and unique patterns. It also put a twist on classics like a blue fur coat, an all-denim ensemble with a green cape and over-the-knee boots splashed with colors and fun designs. Sunnies appeared on a lot of the models, and it added something cool to their look, another trendy element, which is what I took to recreate my own look.

I paired a high-waisted simple black, button-down skirt with a cropped knit top. Most of the time, a crop top will be made from patterned cotton cloth or a solid-colored flowy fabric; this top however has a different texture, and a fun pattern, along with folds on the sleeves and a cinch at the waist. Having that cinch at the waist gives the top some shape and definition, and the baggy style isn’t overly form-fitting. Sticking with the element of texture and contrast, I added a black fringe cross-body bag, which I slumped over my shoulder. I got my steps in by wearing my Tory Burch x Fitbit bracelet, because who said that fitness couldn’t be fashionable? Taking the look to new heights, I wore a pair of tall suede wedges, in a neutral tan color with a high platform, making them fashionable and comfortable. As for the most important element, I wore a fun pair of retro-inspired round silver mirror sunglasses, with a glitter fabric detailing on the sides.

Playing with patterns and textures is such a fun way to play with different pieces that you might not have thought to pair together! I love how versatile this look is, you can be the most fashionable girl on campus, but you can also go out later and not have to change!
