For those of you that know me personally, it’s no secret that I’m head over heels in love with high fashion. I’m constantly browsing recent runway shows for ideas and I’ve always got an inspiration board ready for the upcoming season. When I came across the Yves Saint Laurent fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I knew I had to recreate the look into my spring wardrobe. The show was consistent with the ‘80s theme. The collection focused on leather, shoulder pads and trouser pants. Yves Saint Laurent took a vintage edgy-vibe and added a spin of modern style.
Look 31 from the collection was my main influence. I started out with a structured leather jacket from H&M, but I swapped out the tapered pants with a pair of black joggers from Lucy to make the look more campus-friendly. These pants are the definition of versatile; I pair them with anything from heels and a blazer to a crewneck and converse. I opted for a slouchy white T-shirt to balance out the dark color scheme, and topped off the look with my favorite suede wingtips.
Yves Saint Laurent had their models sporting a dark smokey eye on the runway. To make the look more wearable, I transitioned the bold gray and black into a more neutral beige eye complete with winged liner. Even though it’s only April, this look has me longing for fall and the season for all things leather.
