Here in Charlottesville the April showers are in full swing, and with the gloomy weather even the most stylish Fashionistas can be tempted to throw on sweatpants and call it a day. However, on a rainy Monday morning this Fashionista proves with her chic spring ensemble that a little precipitation is no excuse to be slacking on that #OOTD.
She starts the look with a white short sleeved top. I love this one in particular because of the fun ruffle hem detail, which takes the piece up a notch from the basic white T-shirt without being distracting. The top is paired with some corduroy skinny jeans in a cool rusty red color, a shade that is happily reminiscent of the brick architecture that fills the University of Virginia. The fabric is super soft and comfortable but appears equally polished, allowing her to go from a library study session to office hours with her professor. Her sleek navy booties add a cool utilitarian element to the look, are an unexpected pop of color against the pants and can endure rain in addition to any other elements she may encounter on the walk to class. On her fingers are a few dainty rings in gold and silver metals. To complete the look, she goes for a gold layered necklace with some turquoise stones for a simple statement piece.
One Simple Change: For a night out on the town after those classes are over, there’s no need for a whole new outfit. Simply trade the booties for some earth-toned wedges and amp up the jewelry for an effortless party look.
