STYLE GURU STYLE: Feminine in Florals

Freshly squeezed orange juice, smoked salmon crostini and an array of macarons—am I making you hungry yet? To me, that’s what I look forward to as the weekend approaches: good food and good company. Okay, this brunch outing description seems a little too chic for an common weekend plan, but a girl can dream, right?

But what if you are indeed going to a breakfast/brunch/lunch that is as chic as the one I envisioned? Well, you certainly should look just as good as (or even better than) the food!

Try looking polish and fresh in florals! Florals are the one pattern that is a general classic and a favorite amongst many Fashionistas. It’s like the classic red lipstick: although the style and era around it changes, it still manages to retain its fixed state of captivating beauty. Its pattern can be found on an array of different materials, such as on the finest silk blouse in Paris to being on casual Palazzo pants in Southern California. It seems only fitting that florals were reoccurring on the runway at the Zimmermann spring 2016 ready-to-wear show, bringing us clothes that are “chameleonic between formal and easy,” and displaying not only floral textiles, but feminine silhouettes. What better way to dress for the uber trendy brunch scene?

To channel the idea of Zimmermann’s formal, yet easy attire, I decided to wear a dress that fuses this rich floral textile with a bespoke silhouette. Usually, this dress would look like it would be worn for a specific occasion, so I decided to dress it down. I made my look whimsical in the most subtle way by wearing rose gold lace-up sandals and a cross-body bag for on the go purposes. Swapping heels for sandals and a clutch for a cross-body makes it look effortless, yet polished. This goes to show that staying classy will never go out of style.

Get My Look: 1. A feminine floral dress. 2. A pair of lace-up sandals. 3. A complementary cross-body bag
