STYLE GURU STYLE: Button-Down, Baby

The J. Mendel resort 2015 collection was an inspiration to me for my outfit choice for my post. Gilles Mendel, the designer, states that he wanted to celebrate the French-chic look, thus he created this collection. “It’s my Belle du Jour moment, my girl is grown up, feminine, and a little tough, also,” he said.

J. Mendel’s collections are simply beautiful, so to recreate a look from a collection of his and make it my own was very exciting to me. This long black button-down midi dress was the perfect garment to use to recreate a look from the J. Mendel collection. This dress is black so it automatically is a favorite of mine. Black is such a staple color to own articles of clothing in. Black is slimming, makes one appear to be tanner and a great color to the eye.

With this dress, I added a pair of my favorite black beaded sandals. I also added a chunky travel themed wooden bracelet that I purchased at a boutique while on vacation in Florida. Not only does it provide a nice pop of color, but it has some of my favorite cities displayed throughout the bracelet. Traveling is a passion of mine so this bracelet is one of my favorite accessories that I own. The sunglasses that I am wearing are also a new favorite of mine. Black sunglasses are always the way to go, plus the purple mirrored lenses make the glasses even cooler.

Get My Look: 1. Midi shirt dress. 2. A pair of bold shades. Mirrored lens sunglasses are all the rage right now, and I am totally obsessing over them. 3. Some wooden bracelets. 4. Complete the outfit with a pair of sandals, and you have now recreated my look.
