Top Gun is a total classic. Young Tom Curise in aviators and a bomber jacket will be one of my fashion icons for years to come. These jackets have been coming back recently, but with modern twists, totally changing the way we see these classic pieces.
As Kanye moves even further beyond music, he is starting to flex his fashion chops. Yeezy fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection was huge in more than just the sheer size of the show. People were talking about the neutral tones, tight base layers and oversized coats. Many of the models adorned monochromatic outfits with pops of color or color-blocking. Combined with my image of Top Gun, I was excited to change the way I approached this style.
I wanted to create a look that was wearable for everyday. I started with a black and navy tighter base layer using leggings and a shirt. From there, I added this awesome bomber jacket form Topshop, reflective sunglasses and a more affordable pair of sneakers compared to Kanye’s Yeezys. Overall, the look channeled the Yeezy runway looks while maintaining a more wearable vibe.
The runways can be intimidating and seem too “high fashion” at times, but that doesn’t mean they can’t provide us with some totally rad inspiration. By focusing of the bigger picture of Kanye’s collection, I was able to pull ideas that he used to create something that was wearable for my lifestyle.
Get My Look: 1. Bomber jacket. 2. Black top. 3. Reflective sunglasses.
