School’s out and summer is in session! It has been way too cold for too long here at Bradley University, and I’m definitely ready to feel that summer breeze and wear summer trends. What says summer more than florals and pastels?
For the first time ever, Pantone introduced two shades as the color of 2016, and I couldn’t be happier. The two shades, Rose Quartz, a light pastel pink, and Serenity, a pastel blue, were seen all over the runway in Marina Hoermanseder’s spring 2016 collection during Berlin Fashion Week. Along with a few other pastel colors, the collection featured handmade flowers that popped from the skirts, handbags and headpieces. The soft shades and feminine detailing is the perfect way to introduce summertime.
I was inspired by the collection, so I decided to wear a white lace top with a pastel blue mini skirt. The flowy lace top is perfect for the summer, because the sheer fabric allows the warm breeze to hit right on the skin, and the detailing adds a feminine touch. The pastel blue skirt catches the eye and adds a pop of color to the outfit. It also allows the lace detailing from the shirt to stand out, because of its simplicity. For the shoes, I wore a pair of platform strappy sandals for the warm weather. To top off the outfit, I paired a black fringe cross-body bag to add contrast to the light colors, and a pair of sunglasses in Rose Quartz. These accessories make all the difference in order to give the outfit more dimension.
I love this look, because it’s light and fresh for the summer weather. I can’t wait to style more outfits for the rest of the season!
