Hello Fashionistas/os and welcome back! I couldn’t be more thrilled to be continuing writing with CollegeFashionista this summer, so many exciting things are happening!
For starters, I’m currently studying abroad in London! It has always been a dream of mine to visit the fashion capitals of the world (outside of New York) and this is my first time in Europe. After only a week here in the U.K., I feel like it is quickly becoming my second home. I am so enamored with all of the beauty, style and friendliness that the city of London has to offer.
As a Style Guru, I was able to quickly pick up on some major trends around this stylish city. On the tube (London’s underground subway system), I saw a group of girls wearing the coolest embellished jeans. One pair was embellished in pearls and studs, the next covered in all kinds of retro looking patches. This trend brings me back to when I was five and six years old when my jeans were covered paint, patches and anything that sparkled (shout out to my creative mom!).
Here in London it wasn’t hard to find a pair of embellished jeans appropriate for 2016. As you can tell this pair isn’t just another pair of skinny jeans, these are “mom” style jeans! Wow, I never thought I would be saying that they are trendy or even be wearing a pair but here I am. These jeans are quickly going to become a closet favorite. By rolling or scrunching them at the bottom, I can achieve that slim yet relaxed look. For tops to match “mom” jeans, I would definitely go with a crop top! Whether it is a crop tank, halter or off the shoulder, any type of crop will make your outfit look effortlessly chic.
Unfortunately, my time abroad is only six weeks. Between exploring London and planning trips to other countries, it’s already flying by. Eventually when I do return home, I’ll be in my favorite city again, New York City, interning at a showroom.
