Hi everyone! My name is Cat O’Donnell and I am a sophomore at James Madison University. I am studying Hospitality Management with a minor in Business. One thing I like about JMU is the level of diversity. No matter what your interests are, there is always an opportunity to express yourself. As I travel through campus I see numerous different styles and trends, which inspires me to express myself! I love seeing the different outfits that other students put together and letting them influence my own personal style.
I have had a love for fashion for as long as I can remember. I remember my sister and I playing dress up with our mom’s clothes at age five thinking we were ready for the runway. I was the little girl growing up who had a love of cutting out pictures from fashion magazines, mixing them up and gluing them to paper to make my own unique outfits. Any time I could play stylist as a kid, I always would. I would say that I usually have a more soft and feminine style, but I have a love for color and trying new things. I am very excited to have the opportunity to display some of the best summer trends here at JMU and to share my own favorite styles with y’all!
In this week’s look, I layered an olive green halter top romper with a white lace bralette. I layered the bralette underneath to add a boho style to my look, which is really popular this summer! I paired the romper with an oversized cardigan to make the outfit a bit more comfortable, and perfect for a day trip downtown or out to lunch with the girls. Want to go out for the night? Leave the sweater and bralette behind to expose the open back cut and dramatic neck line of the romper. Next, I added a trendy black velvet choker as a nice accent. Throwing on a pair of gray leather booties keeps the outfit more neutral and is a great staple to have! To top it off, I did a softer pink lip color and a loose curl to add a simple feminine touch! Before heading out the door, I added my two favorites: my David Yurman crossover ring and Tiffany & Co. bracelet as my own personal hint of elegance to this look. More hot summer trends to come!
