Hi loves! My name is Emily Ciavatta and I am so excited to be returning for my second semester with the lovely CollegeFashionista team! I go to Monmouth University, located along the Jersey Shore. It’s where I study communication, write for my school’s newspaper and serve as the Social Media Chair for our LGBTQ+ awareness club. I am an extremely positive person with a huge love for good food, great music and of course, fashion.
Growing up in New Jersey gave me the blessing of being a very short commute to the greatest city in the world: New York City. Being so close to New York City has given me the chance to explore a place filled with inspiration extremely often, which influences my fashion sense in the best possible way. I like to think that my personal style is very eclectic, ranging from girly, masculine, sporty or preppy, which is all in one week of outfits. And I have to owe it to the city for making me confident enough to rock whatever clothes I feel most comfortable in.
Whenever I’m not in the city gaining inspiration, I turn to music to get that same creative spark. If you know me at all, you know how obsessed I am with my favorite bands/artists, great lyrics and the wonderful invention of Spotify. I have a playlist for every mood, occasion and season which makes it impossible for me to go a day without feeling inspired and creative. All I need to feel my best is my greatest outfit and newest playlist that contains mostly Drake.
Here you’ll find me in my go-to pants, because not only are they super cute, but also super comfy! Next, I paired them with my favorite booties. Lately I’ve been dressing pretty monochromatic, by never staying away from black but always adding in a little something to give my look a bit of dimension. So, I threw on a denim shirt to contrast the all-black look and give my outfit a little bit of a different feel. I’m all about wearing whatever you feel attracted to, which is something I both practice and preach.
When it comes to accessories, I’m pretty minimalistic. I normally top off my outfits with a leather backpack or simple necklace. Since, I tend to keep the focus on my clothing. Two accessories I never forget, however, are my headphones and camera, that I’m constantly using to take pictures for my Instagram.
I am so excited to be returning this summer as a Style Guru, and absolutely cannot wait to showcase the coolest college fashion trends to anyone that cares to read about it.
