Hi Fashionistas! Thanks so much for checking out my STYLE GURU BIO. I cannot wait to write more about fashion this summer, as I’m sure the warm weather will bring vibrant prints and exciting accessories.
While CollegeFashionista has given me invaluable insight into the fashion industry, it has also helped me learn more about the value in personal style. Over the spring semester, I realized I enjoyed CollegeFashionista articles because of a signature flare each Style Guru seemed to own. For instance, some always added a hint of vintage charm to their ensembles, while others made white T-shirts look like clothing hot off the runway.
Needless to say, I felt inspired to give my closet a bit of a cleanse. While I kept pieces that were more cohesive with my wardrobe staples, such as paper bag shorts and loafers, I only wish that I had gotten rid of my “going-out” tops and neon cocktail dresses sooner.
For this STYLE GURU BIO, I stayed true to my simple, feminine style with my favorite blouse. However, I deviated from my usual skinny jeans with navy blue flare pants. Among other ‘70s trends that made their mark this year, such as fringe handbags, suede skirts and platform heels, these pants seemed like an easier way for me to incorporate the bold decade into my wardrobe. Though the silhouette was slightly outside of my comfort zone, the clean pockets and subdued color made them easy to combine with other pieces from my closet, such as these nude wedges.
Overall, I have loved having the opportunity to express my interest in fashion through writing as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. Each semester, I can’t help but be inspired by other students who express themselves through fashion. While I got a lesson in personal style last semester, I can’t wait to see what I will learn from other Style Gurus and Fashionistas this summer.
