My name is Leslie Ortiz and I am a marketing student at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Fashion has always been an inspiration to make me feel good about myself. This is my first semester as a Style Guru, and I want to begin to show what I think style is about.
In such a hard industry, such as fashion, it is important to never forget who we are, and our life ambitions. One of my goals involves to improve the confidence of others through fashion, makeup and positive energy. I know this idea sounds a little hippie, but it is something I have always dreamed of doing.
Dressing well can determine how your day might go, and you can always be ready to meet new people. I know that sometimes it might be kind of impractical to wear dresses and heels everyday, but it is not what you wear, but how you wear it. Clothes are for everyone. Body type and skin color do not determine what you can and cannot wear. You are the only boss of your body, and despite popular advertisement you must always see how beautiful you are inside and out.
As a marketing major, I admit the fashion ads might be unrealistic on setting body types of perfection, but we must work together to create a change. It is up to all of you to express yourself in what makes you feel your very best, and I will be here to document the upcoming change. Together I hope we achieve some change in the fashion world as well as in the college lifestyle by improving self-esteem and self-love.
For my STYLE GURU BIO, I am wearing something sort of casual nice for a day out to get lunch. I am wearing a green high waist skirt and brown crop top from Coco+Jaimeson, perfect for summer high temperatures. I decided to pair my ensemble with my nude Calvin Klein Lopen-toed heels and some simple sunglasses. For my jewelry I am wearing chloe + isabel necklace and earrings, and on my arm I am wearing a Fossil watch, two Fossil bracelets and an Alex and Ani bracelet. I kept neutral colors all together since I wanted the skirt to be the main focus piece. My makeup was kept simple, except I added a red lip with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella.
My personal style involves keeping a classic feminine look while trying new trends. I hope you find every article interesting and filled with something inspiring.
