Hello all my Fashionistas/os! My name is Jamie Walsh and I am going to be a sophomore next semester at the University of Iowa. I am so excited to be returning as a Style Guru for this summer break. However, this summer is going to be very relaxing and casual for me as I am trying to keep it chill in my hometown.
Speaking of chill, my idea of summer screams for simplicity. I like to keep things chic but easy. Boyfriend jeans have made a comeback since last spring. I find that I have always been somewhat discouraged from wearing baggy clothing with my 5’1 frame, but I realized there are some easy tricks to not look swallowed up.
I paired adorable destroyed jeans with a basic white V-neck T-shirt that I added my own flavor to. By simply tying a little knot to the white V-neck, it makes the look of the outfit put together and cuts the bagginess of the whole outfit. Currently, my favorite accessory is a choker. I joke that I used to wear chokers in 6th grade and now I am digging through my drawers to find those oldies. I love when trends bounce back because all I have to do is look for my old pieces and not spend extra money. The leather tie choker, seen in my outfit, is an adorable addition to the boho-casual feel. I tied the leather from my necklace with my favorite pair of Birkenstocks that keep everything feeling laid-back but most importantly, comfortable.
I love to create my outfit for the day based on how my hair is feeling. Luckily, I love to rock a pony and adding the ponytail with the choker really makes the accessory stand out. Focus on feeling laid back, natural and simple this summer.
