Hey there, Fashionistas/os! My name is Jasmine Drummond. I am now a senior at University of Maryland. It has been a long time coming and I have been a Style Guru for all four years! I am grateful to be able to have one more year featuring the most stylish students on UMD’s campus.
A little more about me: I am a Communications major and Spanish minor, the oldest of six siblings, I love to eat and I am from Baltimore, MD. I have always had a passion for fashion and I love to help people; thus came my career goal to be a fashion marketing agent. I want to serve as a third-party marketing and public relations specialist for undiscovered fashion professionals, like designers and models. I want to be able to help them network, grow their social media presence and enhance brand recognition by providing them services from my business. First, I plan to start off in a Fashion Marketing graduate program after graduation––preferably a program in New York. I have a lot of fashion experience: I have volunteered backstage for three seasons of New York Fashion Week and I am on the Executive Board of Baltimore Fashion Week as the Social Media Specialist. I love the rush of working backstage at a fashion show, and love seeing a designers hard work go from early stages to becoming real on the runway. I work hard everyday to continue to grow and learn more about the fashion industry.
If I had to describe my style, I would say “unique” and “outside of the box.” I do not like wearing what I see everyone else is wearing. I very rarely shop at big, name brand stores. I LOVE thrift stores and consignments shops. I am a strong believer in recycling clothes, and finding the best and most unique looks from a thrift or consignment shop. I would also describe myself as a frugal shopper––to put it nicely, I don’t like spending a lot of money. My everyday look would usually consists of boyfriend jeans (because that’s my favorite type of jean), a fly graphic T-shirt, a cool choker, a pair of easy casual heels and I like watches so a nice accessory watch to finish the look.
I am also really into makeup and do my makeup very well, very often. My favorite makeup brands to wear everyday are ColourPop’s Ultra Matte Lip, and Sephora Collection MicroSmooth Baked Luminizer for highlight. I will not leave the house without slaying eyebrows and popping highlight on my face.
My first piece of style advice is to wear what I call “feel good clothes.” Everyone has different “feel good clothes,” but it’s simply a favorite outfit that gives you a pep in your step or makes you walk with your head a bit higher. Anything that makes you feel more confident is the best trend of all!
Enough about me, let’s talk University of Maryland style. Stay tuned!
