Hello there! My name is Jennifer Groce and I am a junior at Florida State University. I am double majoring in public relations and retail merchandising/product development. I have loved fashion since I was a young girl. I would spend countless amounts of time sifting through my mom’s closet for hidden pieces and trying on my grandmother’s endless collection of coral lipsticks. I was blessed with the constant opportunity to travel and see some of the United States best fashion centers. By the age of six, I had already lived in Chicago and San Francisco all while planning my big move to Jacksonville, Florida where I would find my permanent home. Getting to see so much of the country at such a young age truly set my perspective straight and allowed me to shoot for the stars early. I knew what was out there and ever since then I have been chasing my big city dreams one step at a time.
Throughout middle school and high school, it was quite obvious I did not dress like the average kid. Between quirky thrift store finds and bold makeup choices, I began to develop my own sense of style. At times it was scary seeing what I would come home with next but my patient parents allowed my creativity to prosper. Props to you, mom and dad!
Since being at FSU, I have tried my hardest to get involved in the RMPD major and make a name for myself in the on campus fashion environment. I have held Publicist positions with the Collegiate Merchandising Association, worked as a Styling Director for the annual CMA Spring Fashion Show, and traveled with the National Retail Federation. My most exciting journey begins next month when I will join FSU’s Retail Program in London and Paris to study international fashion design and merchandising.
On a regular basis when I am not running around like a chicken with its head cut off, you can find me online shopping or sipping coffee at a nearby shop. I find myself constantly snapping photos or planning my next photo shoot based on new Pinterest discoveries. When it comes to style, I have no idea how to define my own. I love all things bohemian (thanks to my hippie of a mother) but I also love simple girly touches and edgy bomber jackets. Basically, as long as it’s cute and different, I am totally in!
Once I graduate and begin my adult life, I would love to continue my education. Studying for a Master’s Degree from a big city university in the public relations field would be an absolute dream. After, I would love to find a fast pace job in the Fashion PR field working for a large company in effort to expand its communication efforts from a business stand point. Besides the constant daydreaming of the Upper Eastside and my future career, I consider myself to be a fun and free-spirited person who loves a good ole adventure.
