Greetings Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I’m Julia, a content-creator, dancer, blogger, photographer and lover of all things fashion and art! I am thrilled to be taking on my first semester with CollegeFashionista, and can’t wait to explore the latest trends and learn about the fashionistas sporting them!
Although I am a Pittsburgh-native, I am currently studying advertising with a concentration in art direction and a minor in dance at Temple University. Philadelphia has easily become my new home. I spend time testing out new coffee shops, photographing the skyline from my roof deck and attending local fashion and art events. Since I’ve been in Philly, I had the pleasure of writing for Green Philly Blog, a sustainable lifestyle blog, and interning with Tori Lawrence + Co, a local dance film company.
Style-wise, I adore thrift shopping and scouting tiny local boutiques wherever I find myself. Nothing is more satisfying than scoring a timeless piece that no one around you has. I am always searching for the latest harem pant, cutout body con dress or flowing romper. My classics are a perfect red lip tone, a delicate lace bralette to poke out of a silky tank and of course, my beloved black Converse. I am obsessed with all things eclectic, and adore mixing prints.
My style is greatly influenced by my art and the delicate nature of ballet, but also by my travels. I take a lot of inspiration from both my European heritage and my experiences photographing and writing journals about trends I’ve seen over the past 21 years. I have a great love for the way that Europeans contrast feminine lines with a masculine edge, and have learned to love experimenting with defying gender norms as a result.
I look forward to discovering street style in Philadelphia this summer while I learn about my fellow Fashionistas/os that are pushing the envelope and starting the latest trends. Stay tuned for my first STYLE GURU STYLE article in June!
