Hey Fashionistas/os!
My name is Katie, and I’m a student at Rochester Institute of Technology. I am currently majoring in photography with a minor in museum studies. I love all things social media, and I am so excited to be starting my first semester as a Style Guru!
As a photography student, expression through art is something that is central to my life; and to me, that includes fashion. I have always considered myself somewhat of a chameleon with my fashion taste, and frankly, it matches my personality. I’m the kind of person that can experience 30 different emotions in the span of two hours, and because of this, my fashion sense is constantly changing as well. One day, I’ll wear a floral dress, pink flats, bright lipstick and I’ll look like a princess; but the next day, I’ll wear a black T-shirt, black jeans and a faux leather jacket. Fashion is one of my all time favorite ways of expressing myself, and I wouldn’t be me if I only stuck to one style.
Another characteristic that is central to my style is affordability. As I’m sure most of you can relate to, I’m a broke college student on a very tight budget. I’ll be honest and say that most of my new purchases come from the clearance sections in Target and Old Navy and I hit up thrift stores often. Occasionally, I’ll go to Forever 21 or Urban Outfitters, but that’s only when I’m feeling crazy or if my paycheck is more than I expected. However, one of my favorite things about shopping is the hunt and getting great deals, so personally, I have no desire to spend $75 on a skirt or $200 on jeans. I love being able to find amazing three dollar items at thrift stores and feel like, when I leave the store, that I found a piece of treasure!
Normally, I will gravitate towards clothing that is cute, but comfortable. I’m on my feet most of the day and am constantly going places, so if an outfit isn’t comfortable, it’s not going to work out for me. Lately, I’m really into crop tops, flare jeans and high-waisted shorts (actually, high-waisted everything!). I love bright colors and pairing patterns that most people wouldn’t consider putting together.
Overall, I’m a bright, passionate, exciting, ever changing person and I’ve put together a fashion style that matches that. I hope you all enjoy my posts and can join me in experiencing a passion for life! It’s going to be a #RAD summer!
