Hey guys, Kelly here. I am a student at the University of Mississippi, better known as Ole Miss. Wow, that’s weird to say since I already walked and am so close to graduating. The only thing standing between me and that super expensive piece of paper is one Spanish class, but it’s all online so I don’t have to stress over it too much. Let me just tell you, being from a beach town where style is very chill, I got taken aback my first year seeing all the different styles the existed in Oxford, MS. Don’t get me wrong, I have my days where I live in my Norts (that’s Nike shorts) and live the basic SEC college life. I also have my days where I have to dress like a grown up and pull out my wide leg pants and Prada heels. On an everyday basis, us here in Oxford like to keep it pretty simple: jeans and a cute shirt, loose shorts and comfy shoes are a must for all the hills in the city. The nightlife is my favorite fashion scene in Oxford it’s a good mix of all styles. After all, were best known for our parties.
This outfit perfectly represents the night life of Oxford: the laid back jeans, the girly shirt and the edgy heels.
The top is simple and soft, but the bold color makes you stand out in a crowded bar. The detail of the cross in the back ads a simple sultry look that is what all the girls strive to achieve nights in Oxford. I got this shirt at Nordstrom Rack but they are everywhere. Here is a similar one with a zipper detail.
Simplicity is key for nights on the square in Oxford. Pairing a basic pair of denim, with a basic yet detailed top and cute heels is the number one thing your will find out at night. I love the wash of this pair from Target. They are a slim fit through the leg and finish skinny at the ankle; it’s pretty much the only fit of denim you’ll find on the square.
To finish the look and make it look super polished, I paired it with my favorite pair of GUESSÂ stilettos, which are surprisingly comfy to walk in. The black patent leather ankle strap with the large gold buckle is the statement of this outfit. Shoes are most girls statement, whether its platform wedges or four inch stilettos. I’ve even found a cheaper pair thats almost the exact same online by Chinese Laundry.
Layering jewelry is huge right now and Oxford is no exception, but I wanted this outfit to be simple and focus on the color-block so I opted out of jewelry.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Oxford’s fashion has more layers than an onion and I cant wait to dive into them this summer in all my posts!
