My name is Sydney Ford and I am currently a rising junior at the University of California, Santa Cruz. This is my second semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I absolutely love it! I am currently studying psychology and linguistics and at this point just really trying hard to get through the next couple years of school.
I come from a very stylish family, with my mom and “nana” always keeping up on the latest trends and looking fabulous everyday. When I was growing up, my mom always had the best outfits for me but, being the rebellious child (I never actually was but tried to be), I wore gym clothes every day. I hated being dressed by someone else, so I thought it was a better decision to wear the most horrific outfits to school. During the middle of high school, I realized that I actually loved clothes and styling other people. I started working in retail and becoming very involved in the fashion community. I was intrigued by the models in magazines, blogs and the runway. Fashion was an escape for me–making me feel like I was completely part of something that is so prominent in our world.
My style is basically a big cluster of everything. The only thing that seems to be prevalent in my outfits is the color black. Black is just such a fierce and captivating color, making everyone look powerful. Some days I am wearing a complete boho look, while other days I am edgier. I get bored very easily of one look, so changing it up happens frequently. In this outfit, I decided to wear a lot of my favorite color. Black jeans are a staple in my closet; I seriously wear them every other day. I have a black cropped tank top with my black bralette peeking out. I am also wearing my over-worn jean shirt and a pair of black high-top vans. My accessories include an embroidered choker and a matching beaded layered necklace. This outfit is very simple and casual; this is something I would wear to class or when I am just out with my friends.
I can’t wait for another fab summer semester with all my amazing Fashionistas! Stay #RAD!
