Why hello there beautiful Fashionista/os! My name is Sylest (Suh-lest) Roddy (easy enough), and I am a sophomore at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. I am majoring in fashion merchandising with a minor in fashion media. I am beyond excited to get things rolling this year as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru!
My fashion obsession started when I was just a kid watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S. I envied every part of Rachel Greens’ life, especially her journey through the fashion industry. From getting coffee and separating hangers, to making the decision: Ross or Louis Vuitton in Paris (I still think she should have chosen Paris, we all know Ross Geller would have moved for her), Rachel Green made the fashion industry ignite inside my soul.
My personal style is similar to a cocktail; each piece is okay alone, but after it’s shaken, stirred and decorated with those pointless little garnishes on top, it is DELISH! As a person and style scout, I am all over the place. I’m a little grunge, a little girly, a little hipster and a little chic. See, I warned you. I have always felt that putting a specific label on relationships and personal style is suffocating. I love the freedom fashion provides for me to be whoever I want when I wake up every morning with a dark coffee and blank canvas.
So for my look, let’s work our way from bottom to top! These strappy, platform sandals are a definite go-to for transforming any summer dress. Loving my newest addition, black and white, striped dress. Black and white stripes are my favorite neutral! Pair this beauty with a dope jacket for an evening out or bare arms for a sunny day. Denim! Denim! Denim! An awesome denim jacket is a necessity for any wardrobe. I lucked out and got this baby from a thrift store for a solid eight bucks, but you can get a denim jacket almost anywhere to match your style. I topped off my look with statement earrings, a little neck tie, and a bold lip (my pointless little garnishes)!
