Feeling pale? Wear white. My friends and I always find ourselves complaining about our pale legs when summer rolls around and it’s time for us to put on our shorts for the first time. Sure, fake tanner rocks, but a nice, crisp white shirt or pair of shorts can definitely bring out what little color you may have.
I found one of my friends arriving to lunch on one of the first “sunny and 85” days of summer in an all-white outfit. I normally would not pick this outfit for myself, but I couldn’t help but notice how good her skin looked. It was not only tan but also glowing. It made her light blue accessories pop as well, making them the star of her look. I was taken back and couldn’t get over how good she looked.
Where I come from, Fashionistas/os tend to dress very nautical and preppy, as I live near the water in a “boat town,” as I would call it. People also tend to dress more casually, leaving the heels and bold jewelry at home. But when this Fashionista stepped out of her car for lunch today, I couldn’t help but think she tied in the casual look with the nautical look in the most perfect way.
This Fashionista was dressed in J.Crew from head to toe. She wore white J.Crew chino shorts and a plain white tank top from J.Crew, but that’s easily something you can find anywhere, like here. She made her accessories the focal point with a turquoise stone necklace and a light denim button-down tied around her waist. She also made her big, slouchy tote bag look chic with the casual but crisp outfit. This Fashionista is definitely ready for the summer!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I tend to like really simple outfits with a touch of color. Whenever I’m in a rush or not feeling very confident, I always put on an outfit in all one color, whether it is all white or black, and then top it off with an accessory. This way the attention is off of whatever I’m feeling insecure about and on the accessory and also makes my outfit look well put together.”
