Hello CollegeFashionista viewers! My name is Kendall Garrett and I am a fashion student at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I am currently in the process of getting my B.F.A. in Fashion Design with a concentration is Business Management and Entrepreneurship (and possibly a second minor in Fibers). This is my first time writing for CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru and I can not wait to share all my favorite looks and trends with you all!
As my first year at SCAD has come to a close, I have gained a more concrete idea of my style aesthetic while learning in the process, that fashion is all about risk tasking and stepping out of your comfort zone. That means, don’t be afraid to wear or try something different! That’s how fashion icons are made.
After I complete my degree, I plan to immerse myself in the fashion industry in hopes of absorbing all the knowledge and experience I possibly can, so that I eventually start my own fashion line. Being a Style Guru is definitely a step in the right direction, and I am thrilled that I can not only publicly share my own knowledge, but learn from others as well.
As for my style, I have a strong interest in fashion with a very feminine, bohemian or eclectic type of feel. Growing up in Austin, Texas, I was engrossed by self-owned boutiques and pop-up markets at a very young age, and I learned to truly appreciate the originality and uniqueness of small business designers. My school is a very inspiring place, and being surrounded by other fashion students as well as visits from top designers like Calvin Klein, my personal style has really blossomed. A large portion of my wardrobe is from Free People; however I do not think that fashion has a specific price point. With my newfound love for everything and anything vintage, you can find me usually rummaging through local thrift stores and resale shops.
I cannot wait to share not only my style with you all, but also the talented student body of SCAD as well.
