Neutrals and monochromatic looks are indeed trending. They create elegant and chic looks, but Peter Cropping, the successor of Oscar de la Renta, shows his eye for color in his spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. I was immediately drawn to the polished looks of the collection that showcased a vast range of colors from pale blue hues to vibrant carnation reds. The models with their pulled back hair and bold matte red lips further complemented the beautiful, refined feel of the overall collection.
Taking inspiration from the coloring of this collection, I decided to style a look around a vibrant pink skirt, perfect for the spring and summer seasons. It is such an eye-catching color, making it a great statement piece. Because of the color’s vibrance, I styled the rest of the outfit in a monochromatic scheme to balance it out. This way the focus can stay on the skirt. The lace top layered over the simple white T-shirt creates both feminine and romantic vibes. If you wanted to create more of an edgy or dressed down look, the layered top can be paired with denim for example to switch it up, without losing the romantic or feminine sense of style.
The Oscar de la Renta collection, in addition to its use of satin and frills, also featured many looks with layers of lace that really helped evoke a sense of femininity. From beautiful see-through lace to satin ball gowns to rich carnation designs, this collection is really flawless.
