Summer is the perfect time to take risks. I love trying out trends I wouldn’t normally wear during the school year and adapting them to make them mine. Looking back on the photos of previous summers that have gone by always proves to be entertaining, as I watch how my style evolves from year to year.
I gathered inspiration for this look from the Moschino resort 2017 Collection. Described as “an ode to uber-groovy psychedelic glam,” this collection caught my eye because of its bright nature and the fact that it fits almost perfectly into a trend I have been lovingly lately: Retro Glam. This collection is reminiscent of Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery in all the right ways.
I paired a billowy, cropped off-the-shoulder top with my favorite pair of acid wash denim jeans from American Eagle. The jeans are high waisted, which makes them a match made in heaven for the crop top. The softness of the top paired perfectly with the slight edginess of the acid wash jeans.
Accessorizing with the scarf added a dose of ‘60s hippie vibe, which was complimented by the small structured bag. My favorite part of this accessory combination is that both are stellar vintage thrift store finds! It truly proves that fashion doesn’t have to be pricey to be on-trend.
I finished off the look with my go-to shoes of the summertime, my white Birkenstock sandals. In the summer, no one likes to be stuck in uncomfortable shoes, so I chose some that are easy to wear almost anywhere. These sandals are so comfortable and add to the easy-going vibe of the entire outfit.
