Preppy mixed patterns, tousled messy hair, a good surprise and American brands are just a few of my guilty pleasures. Ironically, these are the same trademarks the brand J.Crew is known for and has exhibited in their recent runway shows.
My inspiration for this look came from the J.Crew spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection and I chose to stick with pieces that are undeniably distinguishable of the brand. In this show, J. Crew made a statement by going back to it’s classic pieces which I believe anyone can appreciate and pull off in their everyday life. Many of their looks included plaid, nautical stripes and off-the-shoulder tops paired with chunky earrings and necklaces.
I feel as though any outfit in this collection could be worn in many different occasions. From Sunday brunch to a night out with friends, all of these looks are very versatile. Although this collection stuck with light pastel colors, I chose darker shades for my outfit including dark navy and green shades, just to help make it my own.
My outfit includes a plaid collared shirt tucked into polyester navy shorts with designed cutouts. For chilly Ohio nights, I added a green blazer which I think helped give it the perfect J. Crew feel. I truly love this outfit, mostly because I was able to achieve a runway look completely out of pieces that I already had hanging in my closet.
To accessorize, I added a small Coach wallet, a pair of Vera Bradley sunglasses, my favorite Alex and Ani Sunflower Charm bangle and silver gem-studded sandals.
Get My Look: 1. Any collared long sleeve shirt. 2. Delicately designed shorts. 3. Blazer.
