Summer clothing essentials usually include your basic T-shirts, shorts, skirts and basically anything that is light and easy to throw on. These simple pieces don’t have to make your outfit look blah. You can still stand out and look like you put a lot of effort in your outfit while still using what you have in your closet just by playing with patterns and textures. And while we are still in the heat of summer, we all know staying as cool and comfortable as possible is our number one goal.
For my outfit, I took inspiration from the Rebecca Minkoff fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection. What really drew me to this collection was the edgy vibe from the textures and rich colors of the clothes. The collection is mostly composed of dark colored skirts and dresses, black and white striped shirts and leather jackets. These are all classic pieces that can be found in your closet which is a major score.
I combined the black and white striped shirt and black skirt trend from Minkoff’s collection to make it summery while adding my girly and sweet style to it. I am wearing a black and white striped shirt with meticulous lace detailing which I paired with a black suede button-down mini skirt with silver embellishments similar to one of the skirts in the collection. The white sandals I’m wearing go perfectly with just about anything just like my favorite black kate spade cross-body bag. And who can forget about accessories? I accessorized with a silver and blue bracelet and a statement ring to finish off the look. I also wore dark pink lipstick to add a pop of color against the two-toned outfit.
Who says you can’t wear black in the summer? Be daring and don’t be afraid to mix colors or textures using what you already own. Dressing up something as simple as a T-shirt can be super easy and super cute!
