With the recent release of Pokemon Go, it has become a craze around the globe; many college students have begun roaming around the streets and spending more time outdoors to catch pokemons. Players are also divided into three teams to battle and claim their territories (also known as gyms). So, why not turn that Pokemon fever that brings nostalgia to millions into a fashion trend and statement? This Fashionista certainly seizes the opportunity to showcase how to catch Pokemon in style—she’s ready to go on an adventure to catch ’em all.
Spotted this Fashionista at a local pokestop, her outfit is primarily red in colour to represent her chosen Pokemon Go Team, Team Valor. She wears a red sleeveless plaid tunic with a side slit from Bluenoses. The lightweight material has a drapey cut, allowing the shirt to flow gracefully as you walk, which is a perfect piece for layering in summer. The basic Speedo tank top and the denim shorts, from Forever 21, are also the essentials for a two-in-one sporty chic look.
As a fashion-forward Pokemon trainer, this Fashionista carries a patterned backpack from Gregory to pack all her essentials such as water, sunblock and phone portable battery packs for a day-to-night Pokemon adventure. Wearing comfortable running shoes is the key to a successful Pokemon hunt, as it takes patience to catch the rare ones. Here, she wears a pair of bright teal Nike sneakers that are vibrant, comfortable and trendy.
As for accessories, she accessorizes her look by wearing multiple black studded earrings and a pair of retro round sunglasses from Call It Spring that channels ’90s Pokemon era vibes. The sunglasses also protect you from the sun while you are out for a day of Pokemon chasing in the summer. Inspired by the original Pokemon series’ Ash Ketchum, she completes her look with a red snapback from Elstinko. During the photo shoot, she also introduced me her very own Pikachu (which is her cat), who is Ash’s favourite Pokemon companion in the series—how cute!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I think it is cool to show your team spirit by wearing your team colour so your fellow team members can recognize you. Dress comfortably is also a must when you are out catching Pokemons, you should also wear a hat, sunglasses and bring a backpack to carry your essentials as it is a journey that is going to last a whole day. Hope you guys have fun catching your own Pikachu!”
