Off-the-shoulder has become a classic crowd favorite, and this Style Guru is a big fan. I paired my totally on-trend off-the-shoulder tunic with white skinny jeans, sky-high sandals and a vintage bolo tie.
This summer, I took a page from Columbian designer Johanna Ortiz’s book. She is known for her slightly sexy and feminine show-stopping couture pieces. Ortiz dove head first into the off-the-shoulder trend with her latest spring 2016 and resort 2016 collections.
White jeans and strappy sandals will always be classics, but to offset my neutral black and white look I added a trendy eye-catching bolo tie to bring the look together. Bolo ties, or a shoestring necktie, were big in the ’50s and ’80s, so much so that they became the official necktie of Arizona and New Mexico! I snagged this vintage one from my mom’s closet. If you don’t have a bolo tie lying around, you can also wear a choker to get a similar effect.
I’ll let you in on a little secret. My blouse is actually a dress! I ordered it online and it was way too short, but any Fashionista can solve a problem like this with a little creativity and a classic pair of skinny jeans.
These pieces create a laid back yet chic look perfect for a night out on the town, or even class; just swap the heels for a pair of lace-up sandals.
